At normal temperature, thermoplastic elastomer has rubber-like elasticity, and it can be plasticized and molded at high temperature. It has the physical and mechanical properties of vulcanized rubber and the processing properties of thermoplastics. It is a new type of polymer material between resin and rubber, and is known as the "third-generation rubber".

There are many types of thermoplastic elastomers, the main categories are:

1. Thermoplastic elastomers based on halogen-containing polyolefins, such as melt-processable rubber MPR (alloy of ethylene copolymer and chlorinated polyolefin, where the ethylene copolymer is partially cross-linked in situ), PVC-NBR blends, PVC/copolyester blends, PVC/PU blends, etc.

2. TPU has excellent characteristics of high tension, high tension, toughness and aging resistance, and is a mature environmental protection material. At present, TPU has been widely used in medical and health, electronic appliances, industry and sports, etc. It has the characteristics of high strength, good toughness, wear resistance, cold resistance, oil resistance, water resistance, aging resistance, and weather resistance that other plastic materials cannot match. At the same time, it has many excellent functions such as high waterproof and moisture permeability, windproof, coldproof, antibacterial, anti-mildew, warmth, anti-ultraviolet, and energy release. TPEE has good heat resistance, cold resistance, weather resistance, wide application temperature range, good oil resistance and medium resistance, but it has large compression set, high hardness and high cost.

3. TPO refers to polyolefin thermoplastic elastomer, which is composed of ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) and polypropylene (PP). TPO materials are usually transparent particles, with the elasticity of rubber, and their wear resistance is not as good as TPS. TPO is most commonly used in automotive parts and waterproof building materials, and is usually used to toughen and modify plastics such as PE and PP. It can also be used for direct injection molding and can be used for flexible packaging materials.

4. TPEE (thermoplastic polyester elastomer) is a block copolymer containing polyester hard segment and polyether soft segment. TPEE has the elasticity of rubber and the strength of engineering plastics, and has better processing performance and longer service life than plastic rubber. The outstanding characteristics of TPEE elastomer are high hardness (hardness 25D~80D), excellent tensile strength, tear resistance, etc. It is widely used in auto parts and other engineering applications. TPEE has good high temperature resistance and can be used in high temperature conditions of 135~150℃ for a long time. TPEE has good solvent resistance and chemical resistance. TPEE materials are maturely used in antenna wire sheaths, automotive parts, electronic devices and so on.
